WhatsApp Introduces Emoji-Based Sticker Suggestions

New Delhi, March 9, 2026 (Read): WhatsApp has introduced a new feature for iPhone users that aims to make sending stickers easier during chats. With the latest update, when users type an emoji in the chat barrelated sticker suggestions automatically appear.

The feature has been released with the latest iOS app updateafter which the application version becomes 26.8.76. With this update, users may no longer need to open the sticker pack section separately to search for stickers.

How the Feature Works

Under the new feature, whenever a user types an emoji while writing a message, stickers linked to that emoji appear above the chat bar. For example, typing a laughing emoji may show humorous sticker suggestions, while typing a heart emoji may display stickers related to love or emotions.

WhatsApp said the feature is being rolled out gradually to more iPhone users, so it may take a few days before it becomes available on all devices. The sticker suggestions will appear directly above the chat box, allowing users to quickly select and send a sticker without opening the sticker section repeatedly.

Users can also tap the “Show more results” option to view additional stickers. These results may include stickers from third-party sticker packs installed on the device. The company said the update is intended to make the chatting experience simpler and more interactive.

Possible Paid Subscription Plan

It is also being reported that WhatsApp may be working on an optional paid subscription plan called “WhatsApp Plus.” The plan could be introduced for both Android and iOS platforms.

However, the company has clarified that the core messaging services of the app will remain freeand the new plan would only offer additional features. Basic functions such as chat messaging, voice and video calls, group chats, and media sharing will continue to be available for all users without charge.

The WhatsApp Plus plan is expected to focus on personalisation and chat management features. Users may get options to change app themes, adjust colour schemes, and customise the interface. The plan may also include the ability to choose different app iconswith reports suggesting that around 14 new icon styles and multiple colour options are being developed.
