‘Mardaani 3’ prepares for OTT audience after box office success

After a solid run in cinemas, Mardaani is now getting ready for its streaming release.

The film, directed by Abhiraj Minawala and backed by Yash Raj Films, came to cinemas in India on January 30. It later turned out to be one of the year’s stronger performers at the Hindi box office.

Reports say it became the third-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2026 so far, behind Border 2 and O’Romeo.

The third part of this action-drama franchise starring Rani Mukerji will likely arrive on Netflix on March 27, 2026.

In the story, the 47-year-old diva returns as the fearless officer Shivani Shivaji Roy. This time she dives into a darker world while chasing a gang linked to the disappearance of 93 girls.

The plot moves through the city’s rough alleys and criminal networks, where the officer faces ruthless villains and a beggar-mafia syndicate.

The film also brought a new twist to the franchise. Actor Mallika Prasad appears as the first female villain in the series, alongside Janki Bodiwala.

The Hichki actress’s performance also got praise from her longtime colleague Shah Rukh Khan, who shared a message online saying, “Just from the heart….to my Rani ‘Mardaani’ all my best wishes. I am sure you will be feisty, strong & compassionate in Mardaani 3 like u are in the real world too.”

The Black star will next appear in Kingdirected by Siddharth Anand.

The film also features Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Arshad Warsi.
