Arsenal make initial approach to line up RB Leipzig defender
Castello Lukeba has been linked with a move to the Gunners who have supposedly made contact with the player’s camp regarding a transfer.
According to sources at L’Équipe, Arsenal have made an initial approach for RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba.
The North London club reportedly made contact with Lukeba’s representatives in recent weeks and held initial talks.
Furthermore, a scout was even present during the 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on 21 February to observe Lukeba in person.
Beyond the documented interest, nothing more has emerged so far – neither the player nor the Saxony-based club has received an offer.
However, this could change in the coming weeks given a transfer fee of €60 to €70million is being discussed by L’Équipe.
Earlier this week, Sky Germany reported Leipzig must generate €100million in player sales regardless of Champions League qualification.
Should other clubs make concrete inquiries about the left-footed centre-half, the sum could naturally expect an increase.
So far this season, has played 23 matches for Leipzig in all competitions whilst providing a solitary goal and an assist.
Meanwhile, the future of fellow central defender Willi Orbán also remains a mystery, with talks of the Hungarian not being offered a new contract.
