This ranking of “50 Top Pizza 2026” was announced during an event held in Tokyo on March 9. The ranking is considered one of the most influential pizza guides in the world, awarding the best pizzerias in Asia-Pacific every year. It is a matter of pride not only for Surat but for the entire Gujarat and India to have the name of Surat’s Cucina Marinara Pizzeria on such a renowned stage.

What makes this achievement even more special is the fact that Cucina Marinara achieved this honor within just 5 months of opening. While sharing this good news on its social media account, the restaurant wrote that this is the first pizzeria of Gujarat, which has got a place in this list.

Who is Chef Harmeet of Cucina Marinara Pizzeria?

The person behind this restaurant is Chef Harmeet, whose dream was to make people in India experience the real Italian taste. He told that when he started this restaurant, the pizza market was under the influence of big multinational brands like Domino’s and Pizza Hut. It was not easy to create a distinct identity in such an environment.

Chef Harmeet says his aim was to reach out to people who understand and appreciate the true Italian taste. He wanted his restaurant to be a place where people experienced pizza not just as fast food, but as a delicious Italian dish.

Marinara Pizza is special

According to Chef Harmeet, the identity of his restaurant is Marinara Pizza. This pizza is known for its simple but distinct taste. However, Chef Harmeet’s personal favorite combination is a little different. His favorite dish is marinara pizza topped with burrata cheese and chili oil, which he considers “the perfect combination.”

Constant experiments are also done in the menu of the restaurant. One such experiment was a pizza called “Love Triangle”. This dish was not that successful in the beginning, but after continuous improvement it got a special place in the menu.

Pizzerias of Gurugram and Delhi also in the list

Two other pizzerias from India have also made it to this year’s Asia-Pacific ranking. Gurugram’s The Susie was ranked 11th, while Delhi’s Leo’s Pizzeria was ranked 41st. The first place in this list went to Tokyo’s Ristopizza by Naples Sta.
