Seven-day special camp launched in Shaktinagar, special emphasis on public awareness

The first day of the seven-day special camp (day-night) under the aegis of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth NTPC Campus Shaktinagar National Service Scheme Unit I and III was inaugurated on March 11, 2026 at the Panchayat Bhawan located in Chilkadand village. On the inaugural occasion of the camp, village head Chilkadand Hiralal, while addressing the volunteers as the chief guest, said that lack of education and drug addiction is a serious problem in this tribal dominated village. To solve this problem, public awareness is an essential measure which can be done successfully through National Service Scheme. In this seven-day camp, NSS volunteers should establish dialogue with the villagers regarding various problems so that a healthy society can be preserved in time.

Special guest of the function, NCL Khadiya CSR Manager Amarendra Kumar said that saving the society from drug abuse is the biggest challenge today, in solving which the volunteers of this camp can play an important role. NCL Khadiya is ready to contribute actively in this effort of National Service Scheme. In-charge of the organization, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Yadav said in his address that today there is a need for public awareness in the society because majority of the people are being deprived of basic facilities due to lack of information.

In such a situation, the volunteers of National Service Scheme can make them aware by playing their role. Before this, Program Officer Dr. Vinod Kumar Pandey presented the action plan of the seven-day camp (day-night) and introduced the volunteers to the guidelines of the university in this regard. Program Officer Dr. Chhotalal Prasad welcomed the guests and thanked them.

In the second session of the camp, the volunteers interacted with the local representatives in which mainly solutions to the problems faced in SIR were discussed. Volunteers presented NSS songs, ghazals, bhajans and other folk songs as part of the cultural programme. It is noteworthy that a total of 100 volunteers, 50 each from Unit I and III, are participating in this camp. Dr. Manoj Kumar Gautam, Dr. Maninder Kumar D’Souza, Ravikant Kushwaha, Amit Kumar Singh also expressed their views in the camp. During this, Divya Kumari, Khushi Verma, Kajal Mehta, Anjana Purti, Priya Agrahari, Roshni Chaudhary, Pooja Yadav, Ruby Khatoon, Prabha Sondhia played leading roles.
