But now, in his words, it has become a mere step to provide relief to his son from suffering. For a long time, Harish Rana’s parents were demanding euthanasia for him. Harish Rana, despite being alive, was in bed for more than a decade, dying. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court approved his application. The decision was announced by a bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and KV Vishwanathan. The decision is based on the Court’s 2018 ‘Common Cause’ decision, which was revised in 2023. In this decision, dying with dignity was recognized as a fundamental right.
Harish’s father said- We want our son to get freedom now
Harish Rana’s father Ashok Rana expressed deep gratitude on the Supreme Court’s decision. He said that with this decision, thousands of people in India who are facing terminal condition like Harish will be able to get relief from painful life. Ashok Rana told that he and his wife have grown old and the entire family has been serving Harish for a long time. “We want our son to be relieved of this pain. We moved the court when we realized that our son’s condition was incurable and incurable,” he said. She also shared the emotional complexity of this difficult decision and said, “As you can imagine, this is a very difficult decision for our family, but we want to act in the best interests of Harish.”
Harish will leave his body in this way
Harish Rana’s father Ashok Rana told that his son will be taken to AIIMS Delhi under the supervision of doctors. There, under the supervision of skilled doctors, his food pipe will be removed, and Harish will be kept on water support. When Harish dies as per the will of God, his mortal remains will be brought to Ghaziabad and cremated with respect. Ashok Rana emotionally recalls that his son was a topper. Harish studied engineering from Chandigarh University and always excelled in his class.
He told that Harish met with an accident on August 20, 2013, after which his life changed completely and now he has been bed-bound for 13 years. The father said that this difficult decision is extremely painful for him emotionally, but his aim is to free his son from pain and suffering. Harish Rana’s father Ashok Rana told that apart from his husband and wife, there are two sons and a daughter in his family. His daughter is married. The younger son also joins the family and helps in the care and service of Harish.
5 Raj has been living as an umpire for years
According to local residents, Ashok Rana’s family has been living in Raj Umpire, a society in Raj Nagar Extension, for almost five years. The family consisted of two sons and a daughter, of whom Harish Rana was the eldest son. Harish Rana is in coma since 2013. Ashok Rana is a chef by profession. He did this work in the Taj Hotel in Mumbai.
