Keshan Rawat, accused of raping and strangulating widowed woman Reshma Bano and her son Shadab on Monday in Sisendi village of Mohanlalganj Kotwali area, was arrested by the police after an encounter late on Wednesday night. In the encounter, the accused was shot in his left leg, while a constable was also injured in his firing.

The police and surveillance team, under the leadership of Inspector-in-charge Brijesh Kumar Tripathi, were continuously conducting raids in search of the accused of double murder. Late on Wednesday night, the police received information that the accused was hiding in a deserted place near Bajkheda village of Hulaskheda area of ​​Mohanlalganj. The police teams that reached the spot cordoned off the area. According to the police, seeing himself surrounded, the accused opened fire on the police team. In retaliation, the police also opened fire, in which the accused Keshan Rawat was shot in his left leg and he fell down. Meanwhile, a constable got injured in the firing of the accused. The police arrested the injured accused and sent him to the Trauma Center for treatment. A pistol, two live cartridges and one spent cartridge were recovered from the accused. On receiving information about the encounter, DCP South Nipun Aggarwal, ADCP Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar and ACP Vikas Pandey reached the spot and inspected the spot and took information from the police team. According to the police, other aspects related to the incident are also being investigated by interrogating the accused.
