Hansika Motwani and Sohael Khaturiya granted divorce

Mumbai: Actor Hansika Motwani and businessman Sohael Khaturiya have officially been granted a divorce by a family court in Mumbai’s Bandra suburb, bringing an end to their marriage nearly three years after their high-profile wedding. The development was confirmed by the actor’s lawyer, Adnan Shaikh, who said the separation was finalised through mutual consent after both parties acknowledged that the marriage had irretrievably broken down.

The couple’s divorce comes months after speculation about trouble in their relationship began circulating on social media, with reports suggesting that they had been living separately for some time.

Divorce granted by mutual consent

According to Hansika Motwani’s legal representative, the Bandra Family Court granted the divorce after both parties agreed to end their marriage amicably.

In a statement quoted in media reports, Shaikh said the actor had initially approached her then husband seeking a peaceful separation, which ultimately led to the court granting the divorce decree.

“Our client, Hansika Motwani, has been granted a decree of divorce by the Hon’ble Family Court Bandra. The divorce was granted by mutual consent after both parties acknowledged that the marriage had irretrievably broken down,” the lawyer said.

He added that Sohael Khaturiya filed an affidavit before the court confirming his consent to the dissolution of the marriage, enabling the legal process to be completed smoothly.

No alimony sought by the actor

Hansika Motwani’s lawyer also clarified that the actor did not seek any financial settlement or maintenance from her former husband as part of the divorce proceedings.

According to the statement, the actor’s intention was to bring a dignified and peaceful end to the relationship rather than pursue a prolonged legal dispute.

“It is pertinent to clarify that our client has made no claims whatsoever for alimony or maintenance, as her sole intention was to bring a dignified and peaceful closure to the marriage,” Shaikh said.

The lawyer also stated that the reasons behind the breakdown of the marriage were placed before the court as part of the legal petition.

Following the divorce, the actor now plans to focus on her personal life and professional commitments.

Wedding had drawn widespread attention

Hansika Motwani and Sohael Khaturiya tied the knot on December 4, 2022, in a lavish destination wedding ceremony held at Mundota Fort and Palace in Rajasthan.

The wedding was widely discussed on social media and attracted significant public attention, with several photos and videos from the celebrations going viral online.

Prior to the wedding, Khaturiya had proposed to the actor in November 2022 in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Hansika later shared images from the proposal on Instagram with the caption “Now and Forever,” which quickly gained traction among fans.

The proposal and wedding celebrations were widely covered by entertainment media and became a major talking point among followers of the actor.

Speculation about separation surfaced earlier

Rumours about possible trouble in the couple’s marriage began surfacing in August last year.

Social media users noticed that Hansika Motwani had deleted several photos from her wedding and related celebrations from her Instagram profile. The move fuelled speculation that the couple may have separated.

At the time, neither Hansika nor Sohael Khaturiya publicly addressed the rumours, leaving fans and media outlets guessing about the status of their relationship.

Reports later suggested that the couple had been living separately for some time before deciding to formally end the marriage.

Actor focusing on career and future plans

Hansika Motwani, who started her career as a child artist in television before becoming a prominent actor in South Indian cinema, has built a strong fan base over the years.

She has appeared in several Tamil and Telugu films and continues to remain active in the entertainment industry.

Following the divorce, sources close to the actor indicated that she intends to concentrate on her upcoming professional projects and personal growth.

While Hansika has not yet made a public statement about the divorce on her social media platforms, her legal team has emphasised that she hopes to move forward with dignity and privacy.

The court’s decision formally concludes the couple’s marriage, marking a new chapter in the actor’s life as she shifts her focus toward future personal and professional endeavours.
