Thailand strict on Hormuz ship attack, Iranian envoy summoned, Tehran apologized!
Thailand has asked Iran to apologize after the attack on a Thai ship in the Strait of Hormuz. In this attack the ship caught fire and the crew had to abandon ship. 20 out of 23 crew members were rescued. Thailand’s Foreign Ministry said Iran’s ambassador has been summoned to seek clarification on the incident.
Thailand’s Foreign Ministry gave details of the meeting with the Iranian Ambassador in Ex Post. Told, “DPS Sirilak met with the Ambassador of Iran and expressed concern over the incident of Thai flagged cargo ship “Mayuri Nari” which was damaged in the Strait of Hormuz.
Thailand expressed its strong protest and called on the Iranian authorities to issue an apology, while also requesting that they be informed of the real circumstances at the time. “Thailand also appealed to all parties to exercise restraint, return to diplomatic dialogue and ensure the safety of the general public.”
Let us tell you, on Wednesday, a Thai ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz was attacked with a projectile, due to which it caught fire and damaged the ship. According to maritime agencies and security sources, the ship sailing near Oman was targeted by projectiles, after which a rescue operation was launched.
Mayuri Nari was about 11 nautical miles (about 18 km) north of Oman when it was attacked. This carrier was 178 meters long and weighed 30,000 tons. It was going to Kandla in India. It is owned by the Thai transport company, Precious Shipping.
Tasnim news agency quoted Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as confirming that the ship was targeted. Iranian officials have consistently said that ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz must obtain permission from Iran.
Three ships were hit by unknown projectiles in the strategic strait adjacent to Iran. One of these Thai bulk carriers caught fire, forcing its evacuation.
