There is no shortage of petrol, diesel and LPG in Bihar, government bans rumours.

Bihar government has completely rejected the rumors related to shortage of petrol, diesel and cooking gas in the state. The government says that there is sufficient stock of fuel and LPG available in the state and the supply remains completely normal. Officials have appealed to the people not to believe any kind of misleading information.

High level meeting held under the chairmanship of Development Commissioner

On March 12, 2026, an important high-level meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Mihir Kumar Singh, Development Commissioner, Government of Bihar. Representatives of major oil and gas companies participated in this meeting. Also, all the Commissioners, Inspector General of Police, DIG, District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of the state joined the meeting through video conferencing. Senior officials of the Home Department and the police administration also participated in the meeting.

In the meeting, representatives of the companies clarified that there is no crisis regarding the supply of gas or fuel anywhere in the state. Availability of both piped gas lines and LPG cylinders is adequate.

Priority being given to domestic LPG

According to officials, about 98 percent of the gas supply in the state is domestic LPG, while less than 2 percent of the gas goes for commercial use.

The government said that according to the guidelines of the Central Government, priority is being given to the supply of domestic LPG. This is the reason why at present the supply of commercial gas has been limited as a precaution. However, hospitals and educational institutions have been completely kept out of this ban and gas supply to them will continue as before.

Now OTP will not be required for gas delivery

In the meeting, Indian Oil Corporation officials told that in recent times, due to heavy load on the server, many consumers were facing difficulty in getting OTP for gas delivery.

In view of this problem, the company has taken a big decision. Now the requirement of OTP for delivery of gas cylinders has been temporarily removed, so that consumers do not face any inconvenience.

Strict action will be taken against hoarding and black marketing

The government has given clear instructions to the administration that strict action should be taken against those involved in hoarding and black marketing of gas, petrol or diesel.

District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police have been instructed to ensure immediate action if such complaints are received anywhere. Along with this, to keep the distribution system smooth, arrangements will also be made to send gas distributors to different areas every four to five days.

Appeal to people not to pay attention to rumors

Bihar government has appealed to the general public not to believe any kind of rumors or misinformation. Officials have been instructed to regularly share correct information on the official social media platforms of the districts.

The government says that the supply of petrol, diesel and LPG in the state is completely safe and there is no need for people to panic.
