State government is ignoring Balangir in every field: Narsingh Mishra
Not a single teacher in +2 science department of women’s college
Study in Sanskrit College relying on only two teachers
Balangir-Orissa
Former Law Minister Narasimha Mishra has alleged that despite the change of government in the state, there has been no improvement in the situation in Balangir district. He said that like before, the district is still being ignored continuously.
In a press conference he said that the situation in the education sector is very worrying. In Rajendra University, out of total 126 posts, about 100 posts are lying vacant and there is not even a single employee on non-teaching posts. He said that research work should be mainly done in the university, but due to acute shortage of staff, the education of the students is also being affected.
He told that the condition of +2 science department of Government Women’s College Balangir is even worse, where till date not a single teacher has been appointed, yet somehow studies are going on.
Similarly, studies are going on in Balangir Sanskrit College with the help of only two teachers. He said that this clearly shows how the state government is looking at Balangir.
Narsingh Mishra said that at the time of elections, the present government had made many promises, which included the promise of restarting the Deogaon sugar mill. But even after almost two years of formation of the government, no concrete steps have been taken in this direction and the matter is being postponed by merely saying “the process is going on”.
He also said that the Lower Suktel Dam project was inaugurated in an incomplete form by the previous government. It has been two years since the change of government, but till now the promise of providing water to the farmers’ fields has not been fulfilled.
However, he said that he had met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and requested to build a mini stadium and park below the Lower Suktel Dam, on which preliminary approval has been received from the Chief Minister’s Office.
Narsingh Mishra also strongly criticized the state government and local public representatives on the issues of law and order situation, irregularities in paddy procurement, Subhadra Yojana, old age pension, false promises in the name of stopping daily wages and corruption.
He raised the question as to why the local MLA is not raising the issues related to development and law and order of Balangir in the Assembly. He said that even after almost two years of elections, none of the projects started in Balangir assembly constituency have been completed.
Many Congress leaders including Manish Mishra, Asit Mishra, Bulu Dani, Kailash Mishra, Chinmay Behera, Kiran Seth, Sanjay Mishra, Manas Mahanti, Titu Rana, Jyotish Mugri and Sanand Mishra were present in this press conference.
