CM Rekha Gupta In Convocation of IGDTUW: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta attended the eighth convocation of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) on March 12. During this, the Chief Minister of Delhi called for ‘Beti Badhao’. He said that women are now leading in every field.
While addressing the students, CM Rekha Gupta said that the country has now moved beyond the era of Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao. Now is the time for Beti Badhao, where women are taking leadership in every field.
He said that girl students advancing in the fields of engineering, management and technology will decide the direction of developed India.
A total of 1181 girl students were awarded degrees on this occasion, which includes 31 PhD, 212 Master degrees and 938 Bachelor degrees. The Chief Minister told the girl students that this degree is not just an academic achievement but the beginning of the next phase of life. He said that the country is now moving towards women-led development and there are countless opportunities for women in the fields of science, technology, management and research.
He said that Delhi government is taking new initiatives for the education and economic empowerment of daughters. Under the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, launched in this sequence, the government will provide phased financial assistance to the daughter from her birth till she completes her graduation, so that she can prepare a strong base for further studies or employment.
Netra Women Leadership Project also mentioned
In the program, Education Minister Ashish Sood also mentioned the Netra Women Leadership Project, under which IGDTW girl students trained women personnel of Delhi Police to fly surveillance drones. Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Ranjana Jha informed that IGDTW has already received A+ grade and 3.27 CGPA from NAAC in the first evaluation cycle. Apart from this, it has been ranked 52nd in the Global Top Innovative Universities category in the Times Higher Education Ranking 2025 and 292nd in the QS Asian University Rankings (South Asia). He said that the girl students of the university are also performing excellently on national platforms. University teams have won many awards in the Smart India Hackathon and other competitions.
