The journey from ‘Vishwa Guru’ to lines for cylinders, Aman Arora exposed the claims of the Central Government

LPG Crisis: Punjab Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party state president Aman Arora today launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government, terming it a “complete failure” in foreign and domestic affairs. Highlighting the glaring gap between government claims and ground reality, he said both the promises of making India a “Vishwa Guru” and “self-reliant” have proved to be hollow.

Long queues outside gas agencies

Participating in the censure motion moved by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kattaruchak in the Punjab Assembly, Aman Arora drew attention to the contradictions emerging in today’s newspapers. He said, “On one hand, there were reports in the newspapers of kilometer long queues outside gas agencies, thousands of hotels are on the verge of closure, countless marriages are being canceled and our mothers and sisters are worried about their kitchens.

trying to console people

On the other hand, a full page advertisement of the Government of India was published under the title ‘Your home is our first priority’, which seems to be only an attempt to console the people. The reality is that by issuing such an advertisement they themselves have admitted that the situation is serious and is becoming more serious day by day.

140 crore Indians will lead the world…

He reminded the House of Narendra Modi’s election speeches before 2014, in which he talked about making the country self-reliant and leading the world. He said, “Fourteen years ago they used to declare that 140 crore Indians would lead the world and we would never need imports. Look at where we stand today. They have failed miserably in making India a Vishwa Guru and making the country self-reliant.

All neighboring countries are away from India

Aman Arora said that even after being in power for 12 years, the BJP led government has still not been able to differentiate between friend and foe. He said that one by one almost all the neighboring countries are moving away from India and their proximity with China is increasing, which shows the failure of foreign policy.

Top political and administrative leadership

He also raised questions on the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Israel, saying, he goes to Israel, there the Prime Minister embraces Netanyahu and the very next day America and Israel take action against Iran’s top political and administrative leadership.

no words for innocent children

He also reminded the House of the horrific US-Israeli attack on a school in which hundreds of children died. He said that even on this incident, no words were said by the Prime Minister for those innocent children.

Natural gas production decreased in 12 years

Citing 12 years of central government data, Aman Arora said natural gas production has declined from 40.68 BCM in 2012 to 35 BCM in 2024, while consumption has increased from 47 BCM to 69 BCM in the same period. Similarly, domestic production of crude oil has declined from 37 million metric tonnes in 2013-14 to 29 million metric tonnes in 2023-24, while consumption has increased from 158 million metric tonnes to 233 million metric tonnes.

Two-thirds of LPG is imported

He said India’s LPG import dependence is set to increase from 45 percent in 2014 to 66 percent in 2025. He said, “This is their ‘self-reliant India’! Today we import two-thirds of our cooking gas. Production is declining, consumption is increasing rapidly and they talk about self-reliance. This is not self-reliance but increasing dependence.”

Tremendous investments by India and Reliance

Aman Arora also mentioned a major refinery deal in the US, which is backed by Reliance Industries, India’s largest private energy company. He cited a tweet by Donald Trump, thanking India and Reliance for their “tremendous investment”, saying it will boost global exports and create fuel and jobs in the US.

billion dollar refinery deal

The minister said, “On one hand, 140 crore people of the country are standing in queues for LPG cylinders. On the other hand, a refinery agreement worth billions of dollars is being signed with their ‘best friend’ America. On one hand, our mothers are not able to cook bread and on the other hand, refineries are being built with Indian money to supply oil to the world. Can there be a more humiliating situation for the country than this?”

Gave assurance to the people of Punjab

He assured the people of Punjab that the state government will leave no stone unturned to protect their interests. Despite Central control over the oil and LPG sector, the government will work day and night to ensure that the people of the state do not face any kind of problem.
