Gyanesh Kumar can be removed from the post of CEC, more than 200 MPs signed the notice, know what are the rules?
New Delhi. 130 Lok Sabha MPs and 63 Rajya Sabha MPs have signed a notice demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. A source gave this information on Thursday. According to the source, this notice can be submitted in any one house tomorrow. However, it is not clear which House it will be assigned to? Meanwhile, an opposition leader said that the MPs have shown great enthusiasm in signing the notice. Despite the required number having already been met, several MPs came forward to sign the notice on Thursday.

What does the rule say?
According to the rules, to remove the CEC from the post, signatures of at least 100 MPs of the Lok Sabha are required. At the same time, signatures of 50 Rajya Sabha MPs are necessary.
Aam Aadmi Party MPs also signed
The source said that the notice was signed by members of political parties of India Block. Another source said, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs have also signed this notice, even though AAP is no longer a part of the India Bloc.

What allegations were made against CEC?
This is the first time that notice is being given to remove a Chief Election Commissioner from the post. According to a highly placed source, seven charges have been leveled against the Chief Election Commissioner. These include allegations ranging from biased and discriminatory conduct while in office to deliberately obstructing investigations into election fraud and large-scale disenfranchisement. Opposition parties have several times accused the Chief Election Commissioner of helping the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), especially with regard to the ongoing Special Scrutiny (SIR). His allegation about this is that its purpose is to help the BJP.
