Summer Health Tips: Are you suffering from scorching sun and heat? Follow these easy tips to keep yourself safe

Health Tips: In the month of March itself, the sun has started becoming harsh and the mercury is rising rapidly. With this onset of summer, the risk of heatstroke and dehydration has increased. National Health Mission (NHM) has issued necessary guidelines to keep the general public safe so that you can keep yourself cool even in this scorching sun.

Heat has started showing its effects in many states of India. As the temperature is increasing, the number of patients suffering from heatstroke and heatstroke in hospitals is expected to increase. Experts say that by adopting small precautions, we can protect not only ourselves but also our family.

only water will save life

The biggest challenge in summer is dehydration (lack of water in the body). To avoid this, keep drinking water at regular intervals even if you do not feel thirsty. Include beverages like lemon water, fresh buttermilk, coconut water and ORS in your diet. These drinks not only keep the body cool but also fulfill the deficiency of electrolytes.

What to wear and when to go out?

  • Your choice of clothes matters a lot in the summer season.
  • Always wear light colored cotton and loose clothes which can absorb sweat and allow the body to breathe.
  • Avoid wearing dark colored and tight clothes as they absorb more heat.
  • Avoid going out between 11 pm and 4 pm when the sun is at its strongest.
  • If you are forced to go out, keep an umbrella, hat, sunglasses and a wet towel with you.

Do not ignore these symptoms

Heatstroke can be fatal. If you or anyone around you suddenly sees symptoms like high fever, stopping sweating, dizziness, vomiting, severe headache, fainting or red and dry skin, then it is an alarm bell. In such a situation, immediately take the patient to a shady, cool place and contact a doctor.

take special care

Especially take extra care of children and the elderly at this time because their immunity is low. Also, do not expose your pets to sunlight, keep them in a cool place and give them adequate water.

Avoid heavy exercise in this summer season and use cooler, fan or AC properly to keep the house cool. Remember caution is the best protection.
