Monalisa Bhosle sets record straight on interfaith wedding controversy
Monalisa Bhosle, the viral sensation from the Mahakumbh, recently addressed to the debate over her wedding to boyfriend Farman Khan.
The social media personality clarified her interfaith union while responding to the chatter and criticism that followed the news of her wedding.
Speaking about the matter, the internet star revealed that her nuptial ceremony was performed according to Hindu customs and rejected claims linking it to the “love jihad” narrative, as quoted in a video shared by PTI.
“I got married according to Hindu rituals. It is not ‘love jihad’. I respect all religions and consider every religion equal,” she said.
Her statement came as social media users continued debating the couple’s interfaith relationship.
In the clip, she also mentioned that she was the one who convinced Farman to marry her, explaining that he was initially hesitant about the idea.
Furthermore, she disclosed, “My parents wanted to get me married to my aunt’s son, and I did not want to marry him as he is like a brother to me.”
Meanwhile, Farman, who reportedly a Maharashtra-based actor and model, admitted that Monalisa was the one who took the step first.
Although he initially turned down her proposal, he later agreed to date her and their relationship gradually strengthened.
For those unaware, the couple tied the knot on March 11 at the Arumanoor Sri Nainaar Deva Temple in Kerala.
