Pappu Yadav-Giriraj Singh’s heated debate in Parliament, ‘Bhunja’ comment

The atmosphere in the Lok Sabha became heated when a heated exchange broke out between two MPs from Bihar during the discussion on the no-confidence motion. Independent MP from Purnia Pappu Yadav was speaking when BJP MP from Begusarai Giriraj Singh interrupted him.

Patna: During the discussion on the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha, a heated argument was witnessed between two prominent MPs from Bihar, independent Pappu Yadav from Purnia and BJP’s Giriraj Singh from Begusarai. This debate gained more momentum when Pappu Yadav taunted Giriraj Singh and said, “He used to come to my house and eat Bhunja and now he should accept my challenge in the elections.”

On this occasion, Pappu Yadav challenged Giriraj Singh that if he has the courage then he should contest and win the independent elections. He said that many leaders win in the name of the party, but the real power lies in the support of the public. After his statement, there was noise and commotion in the House for some time.

There was a heated argument in the debate on no-confidence motion

Pappu Yadav was speaking during the debate when Giriraj Singh interrupted him. Angered by this, Pappu Yadav launched a scathing attack on Giriraj Singh. The debate between the two leaders continued for about a few minutes. Seeing the situation, Deputy Speaker Jagdambika Pal had to intervene. He urged both the MPs to remain calm and keep the discussion on topic.

Pappu Yadav, while taunting Giriraj Singh, also said that when he had become MP five times, Giriraj Singh was not even born at that time. This comment further heated the atmosphere in the House.

Debate also took place on Atal Bihari Vajpayee government

Giriraj Singh asked Pappu Yadav where he was in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government. On this Pappu Yadav said that he was a part of the cabinet at that time and the Federal Democratic Party was included in the government at that time. He also told that he has been continuously active in parliamentary life since 1990 and got the opportunity to work with many important leaders, which include names like Mulayam Singh Yadav and Chandrashekhar.

As the debate became more heated, Deputy Speaker Jagdambika Pal intervened and reminded both the leaders that the no-confidence motion was under discussion and it was necessary to maintain the atmosphere of the House. After his intervention Pappu Yadav focused his speech on the topic and the atmosphere in the House gradually returned to normal.

The image of Pappu Yadav, who has been a seven-time MP from Purnia, is considered as an influential and outspoken leader in the politics of Bihar. After not getting a ticket from Congress in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he contested the elections as an independent from Purnia and after winning, he again entered Parliament. He openly expresses his opinions on various political and social issues and his views often feature prominently in the media.

Begusarai MP Giriraj Singh is counted among the firebrand leaders of BJP. First elected to the Lok Sabha from Nawada in 2014, he made it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet in 2019. Apart from this, he has also been a minister and MLC in the Government of Bihar. His political career is known for being active and outspoken in controversial issues.
