Punjab Employment: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today said that Punjab is witnessing a decisive change in its industrial progress. After the plunder and unstable environment before 2022, global investors are now returning to the state.
Speaking after the foundation stone laying ceremony of Infosys’ new campus in Mohali to cost Rs 286 crore, the Chief Minister said the project would provide direct employment to 2,700 youth, while providing indirect employment opportunities to thousands of people.
Progressive Punjab Investment Summit
The Chief Minister emphasized that since March 2022, the Punjab Government has received investment proposals worth more than Rs 1.55 lakh crore, which will generate employment opportunities for more than 5.44 lakh youth. He further said that the Progressive Punjab Investment Summit to be held from March 13 to 15 in Mohali will prove to be a historic occasion for the industrial progress of the state and the coming three days will write a new story of Punjab’s economic development.

Welcoming the representatives of Infosys, a world-renowned information technology company, the Chief Minister thanked them for reposing faith in the industry-friendly policies of the Punjab Government. Direct employment to 2,700 youth
Referring to Narayana Murthy, considered the pioneer of the Indian IT sector, the Chief Minister said that he is called the “Father” of the Indian IT industry. He said that the foundation stone of this new project of Infosys worth Rs 286 crore is being laid in Mohali, which will provide direct employment to 2,700 youth and create indirect employment opportunities for thousands of youth.
seating capacity of 3,000 people
The Chief Minister said that in the first phase of this project, an integrated campus will be established, which will have software development block, food court and other modern facilities. This campus, to be built in an area of approximately 3.50 lakh square feet, will have a seating capacity of approximately 3,000 people.
Globally renowned in the field of digital services
He said that the Punjab government will provide full support to Infosys for this project so that other companies are also inspired to invest in Punjab and more employment opportunities are created for the youth. Referring to the global reputation of Infosys, the Chief Minister said that the company is globally renowned in the field of technology and digital services and currently has about 3,37,034 employees working across the world. In the first nine months of the financial year 2025-26, the company has registered an income of $ 15.12 billion. He said that with this Punjab has now emerged on the global industrial map.
Investment of Rs 3,200 crore in Ludhiana
The Chief Minister also informed that on March 20, the country’s second largest Tata Steel project, to be built with an investment of Rs 3,200 crore, will be inaugurated in Ludhiana. The project will provide employment to 2,500 youth and accelerate the economic development of the state.
Favorable environment to promote investment
Highlighting the achievements of the Punjab government in the industry sector, the Chief Minister said that the government’s industry-friendly policies, corruption-free governance and conducive environment are promoting investment. There has been a significant increase in industrial investment in the state due to social harmony and peaceful environment.
Employment opportunities for youth
He said that since March 2022, Punjab has received investment proposals worth more than Rs 1.55 lakh crore, which will create employment opportunities for 5.44 lakh youth. The Chief Minister said that the Punjab Industrial and Trade Development Policy-2026 will provide great convenience to investors, increase employment opportunities for the youth, empower women and assist new entrepreneurs in starting businesses.
Investment coming from developed countries
He informed that global companies like Nestle, Cargill, Verbio and Danone have already set up their units in Punjab. Apart from this, investments are also coming from developed countries like Japan, America, Germany, UK, UAE, Switzerland, France and Spain.

The Chief Minister stressed that the industry can progress only when the government and the industry work together. He said that investors and entrepreneurs are the key architects of Punjab’s industrial future. Inviting investors to participate in the Progressive Punjab Investment Conference, the Chief Minister said that this conference to be held from March 13 to 15 is very important for the future of the state.
Self-reliant in food production
The Chief Minister also said that the people of Punjab have made a historic contribution in the country’s struggle for independence with hard work, dedication and patriotic spirit and have played an important role in making the country self-reliant in food grain production and protecting the borders.
New employment opportunities for youth
He said that the purpose of remembering these achievements is to introduce the new generation to the rich cultural and historical heritage of Punjab. Talking about the future of the state, he said that the expansion of its campus by Infosys will create new employment opportunities for the youth of Punjab and neighboring states and further strengthen the state as an emerging hub of technology and innovation.
Transparent single-window system established
The Chief Minister said that Punjab offers a strong investment ecosystem with reasonable power tariffs, availability of land and a favorable business environment for investors. He informed that a transparent single-window system has been established in the state and Punjab has become the first state to pass the Right to Business Act.

Describing Punjab as a “land of opportunities”, the Chief Minister said that due to strong law and order, global companies are eager to set up their businesses here. He said that Mohali can become the next industrial center of the world in future because there is immense potential here. There is an international airport here and a large number of skilled youth are available within a radius of 80 kilometers.

But after the formation of the government in 2022, many revolutionary steps have been taken, due to which Punjab is now progressing in every field.
