Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has stressed the need to further strengthen trade and investment ties with Canada, especially British Columbia. He said that increased cooperation between the two sectors will not only benefit businesses but will also create new opportunities for the common people.
The Chief Minister said this during his meeting with British Columbia Premier David AB. Many important topics like trade, investment, education, agriculture, technology and renewable energy were discussed in this meeting.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Canada has been a strong partner of India and Punjab for a long time. He said,
“We deeply value our relationship with Canada and look forward to seeing this partnership grow even stronger in the years to come.”
The Chief Minister assured that the Punjab Government is fully ready to work with Canadian companies on the basis of trust and cooperation.
🏭 Punjab is an ideal state for investment
Describing Punjab as the most preferred state for investment, the Chief Minister said that it has strong infrastructure, skilled human resources and youth proficient in English language.
He said that especially these areas in Punjab are extremely favorable for investment:
- Agro-processing
- textile
- engineering equipment
- IT services
- Renewable energy
The Chief Minister said that single-window clearance and full government support is being provided to investors through “Invest Punjab”.
🌾 Partnership in agriculture, food processing and green technology
Chief Minister Mann said that the expertise of British Columbia matches the development priorities of Punjab. They particularly raised the possibility of cooperation in sustainable farming, food security, greenhouse technology and post-harvest systems.
He said that partnership in clean farming and value-added food processing will increase the income of farmers and create new employment opportunities.
🎓 New possibilities in education and skill development
Describing education as an important sector, the Chief Minister said that partnership with Canadian universities in research and vocational training can bring a big change in Punjab.
He also invited leading Canadian universities to set up their campuses in Mohali and said that Mohali can become a major hub of education and skill development.
🏥 Limitless opportunities in health, energy and technology
The Chief Minister said that Punjab also has huge opportunities for Canadian companies in the field of health services and life sciences.
He said that investment in pharma, medical devices and telemedicine will further improve health services.
Along with this, he described cooperation in areas like solar park, bio-energy, artificial intelligence, cyber security and agri-tech as the need of the future.
🌍 Important role of migrant Punjabis
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann described the role of the Punjabi community settled in Canada as very important. He said that the diaspora acts as a strong bridge between Punjabi business and culture.
The Punjab government wants to further strengthen these ties through cultural and educational programs.
