There was a slight drop in the temperature of Delhi, because due to western disturbance yesterday, some parts of Delhi remained partly cloudy. The maximum temperature was 35.8 degrees Celsius, seven degrees above normal, but one degree less than the season’s highest temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius recorded on Wednesday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a drop in maximum temperatures in the coming days, as a new western disturbance will affect Delhi-NCR from March 14, which is likely to cause light drizzle on March 15. According to IMD, today i.e. on Friday, there may be a decrease in temperature from last Thursday.
The maximum temperature in Delhi today will be much above normal, by about 5 degrees Celsius or so, and is expected to hover around 34°C to 36°C. At the same time, the minimum temperature will also be much higher than normal, between about 3.1°C to 5.0°C. This means that the maximum temperature will be around 16°C to 18°C.
According to forecasts, the maximum temperature in Delhi on March 13 and 14 is likely to be between 33-35 degrees Celsius, while on March 15 it may remain between 30-32 degrees Celsius. The sky will be cloudy and there is a possibility of light rain, which will provide temporary relief from the heat. There will be no significant change in the weather today.
What did the meteorologists say?
Meteorologists said that western disturbance will bring some coolness in the temperature in the coming days, especially on March 15. There was a slight drop in maximum temperatures on Thursday as we start seeing the effects of the first of the two western disturbances. Western disturbance will bring moisture, due to which the sky will become cloudy. If it remains intense then there will be rain in the plains and snow in the hilly areas.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was 18.2 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees more than normal. According to forecasts, the minimum temperature is likely to remain between 17-19 degrees Celsius till March 15. Talking about Delhi’s air quality, there has been a slight improvement, with the 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) being 213 (poor), which is less than 244 (poor) on Wednesday.
How will the weather be in these states?
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that there is a possibility of thunderstorm, lightning and strong winds at a speed of 30-50 km per hour in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh during March 14 to 16, in Uttar Pradesh on March 15 and 16 and in Rajasthan on March 14 and 15. It is noteworthy that IMD has issued a heat wave warning in Gujarat. Yellow alert has been issued for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
On Thursday, the maximum temperature at many places in India including Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh remained 5.1 degrees Celsius above normal.
