Milk Selling Rule: The milk adulterers are shocked! Now ban on sale of milk without license; Big decision of FSSAI

  • The milk adulterers were shocked!
  • Now ban on sale of milk without license
  • Big decision of FSSAI

Milk Selling New Rule: Will come to your house milk Pure or adulterated? This issue will be resolved soon. Taking cognizance of the growing complaints of adulteration in milk from across the country Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Strict steps have been taken. Selling milk in the country is no longer easy; It has been made mandatory to have an official license or registration for that.

What is the new rule of FSSAI?

FSSAI has clarified that now no person or organization will be able to carry out milk business without a valid license. The government has taken this major decision to break the backs of the adulterers and ensure that pure milk is available to the common consumers. Government ‘stamp’ will now be mandatory at every stage of sale to control the quality of milk.

A big relief for cattle breeders and farmers

There is no reason to panic with this new rule for common farmers or animal husbandry. Members belonging to ‘Dairy Co-operatives’ i.e. Dairy Co-operative Societies need not obtain separate license individually. If you are affiliated to a registered cooperative and supply milk to them, you are exempted from the licensing requirement. This will not have any adverse effect on the dairy industry in rural areas.

Administration’s ‘Action Plan’ ready

FSSAI has issued special instructions to Food Commissioners of all States and Union Territories:

  • Special Registration Campaign: Special campaigns will be conducted to register milk sellers in each area.
  • Field Inspection: Food Safety Officer (FSO) will visit the ground and check the licenses of the vendors.
  • Attention to storage and cooling: Not only the adulteration, but also the ‘cooling equipment’ used to prevent spoilage of milk will be checked periodically. The government will now keep a watchful eye on whether the milk is being stored at the right temperature or not.

Warning of strict action if rules are broken

Strict legal action will be taken against the concerned person or organization under the Food Safety Act if found selling milk without a license. FSSAI has also warned that all states should strictly implement these rules.

Good news for customers

This decision is directly linked to public health. The government system will now control the purity of milk available in the market. Consumers should be aware while buying milk from an authorized seller only. Due to this step of the government, the illegal and dangerous trade in the milk sector will be curbed.
