State Vice President of Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh in Basti district, Mahant Girijesh Das, has lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister’s portal through IGRS, alleging that the then Lekhpal Sheela Prajapati, in collusion with the opposition, got illegal construction done on the land Gata No. 333M/0.0240 of police station Munderwa, behind village Rampur Medical College, Basti Sadar Tehsil, and has demanded action against the Lekhpal and vacating the illegal possession.
In the complaint letter, Mahant Girijesh Das has said that in the month of June 2025, with the connivance of the then Lekhpal Sheela Prajapati of Gata No. 333M of village Rampur, police station Munderwa of Basti Sadar Tehsil, the then Lekhpal illegally took possession of the said valuable land from Rampur resident Ibrar son of Aish Mohammad and got permanent construction done on Gata No. 333M for personal gain.
During the visit, he was told by the villagers and Hindu people that during his tenure in Halka area, the then Lekhpal had illegally encroached upon the lands of the village society and the government. Despite information of villagers and publication in newspapers regarding illegal construction taking place in connection with Gata No. 333M, it was not stopped.
He has demanded that the matter is in public interest and government interest. The government is incurring losses. The illegal occupation should be vacated by conducting a high-level inquiry into the matter and taking legal action against the then accountant and the culprits involved in the illegal occupation.
