Devil May Cry Season 2: Everything you need to know about this Netflix series

The animated series, “Devil May Cry,” is one of the most anticipated animated series in the world of over-the-top (OTT) content. This highly stylised, action-packed animated show is based on the popular Capricorn video game franchise and tells the trials and tribulations of the cocky demon hunter, Dante, as he comes to grips with his twin brother, Vergil, the explosive action he confronts, and the supernatural battles he encounters. In addition, there are short previews/teasers for the show leading up to their respective releases, including an August 2025 teaser trailer and a February 2026 sneak peek entitled Dante Gets Ebony and Ivory.

Devil May Cry Season 2: Plot and Focus

The stakes are raised in Season 2 by introducing a full-scale war between the humans and the demons’ world. The story revolves around Dante’s confrontation with his brother Vergilwho is back in the game and is now an even stronger opponent than his twin brother Dante. The story continues to explore themes of family, childhood lost, inner demons, as well as foreshadowing the inevitable battle between the brothers.

Along with continuing to remake/give new life to many of the elements from the game canon (the paramilitary group DARKCOM; the post-9/11 allegory introduced in Season 1), there is a continued focus on the signature characteristics of the franchise – explosive fight scenes with enormous amounts of action and little doses of cocky one-liners.

This season will also introduce Dante’s two iconic dual pistols – Ebony & Ivorywhich will elevate his weaponry tremendously.
