Big blow to Kolkata Knight Riders, Harshit Rana out of IPL 2026
New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have suffered a crucial loss before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026). Fast bowler Harshit Rana will no longer be able to participate in this tournament because he is injured. He was included in the team by KKR for Rs 4 crore, but now his absence may hamper the team’s plans.
Out of the tournament due to injury
Harshit Rana suffered an injury during the T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up match against South Africa, due to which he had to be ruled out of the entire competition. However, Kolkata Knight Riders have not yet announced his replacement.
Blessing Muzarabani’s entry into the team
However, KKR on Friday included Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani in the team. It is possible that Muzarabani will try to fill the void of Harshit Rana. Muzarabani was among the leading wicket-takers in the T20 World Cup 2026, taking 13 wickets in the entire tournament.
Challenges in death overs
After Andre Russell’s retirement, Harshit’s absence is a big blow for KKR. The team will now have to face more challenges especially in terms of bowling in the death overs. The team includes Mathisha Pathirana, who was bought by KKR in the auction for Rs 18 crore.
schedule of upcoming matches
Kolkata Knight Riders plan to launch their new jersey on March 14. Furthermore, as per the schedule released by BCCI, KKR’s first match in IPL 2026 will be against Mumbai Indians on March 29. In the last season i.e. IPL 2025, Harshit played 13 matches and took a total of 15 wickets.
