As per the rules set by MSRTC, for Rs 40, passengers will be given one of the following snacks along with tea:

  • Poha

  • Vein

  • pav vada

The aim of this arrangement is to provide good breakfast to the passengers at low cost.

Why did this decision have to be taken?

Long distance ST buses stop at certain hotels during the journey. Many times, in these hotels, prices higher than the MRP were charged for tea, coffee, snacks and water bottles.

Complaints about overcharging despite low quality food were continuously increasing. Especially passengers traveling with family had to suffer huge financial loss due to this.

The rule will be applicable in the entire state

This rule will be applicable to all hotels in Maharashtra where ST buses stop regularly. It will be mandatory for these hotels to follow the fixed prices.

How will passengers get the benefit?

After the implementation of fixed rates, hotel operators will not be able to charge arbitrary prices. With this, passengers will get tea and snacks at reasonable prices and the problem of extra expenses during the journey will be reduced.

This decision of the Transport Department is expected to further strengthen the trust between ST passengers and the transport system.
