NDA’s big plan in Kerala elections, 140 seats alone… No CM candidate, Modi will be the face!
New Delhi: NDA has played a big bet in Kerala Assembly elections. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies are going to contest elections on all 140 seats in the state. This time NDA will contest without any chief ministerial face.
In the last elections, the party had made metro man E Sreedharan the CM candidate, but this time it will not happen. The entire focus of NDA will be on the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the work and development of his government.
Who will be the faces in the campaign?
PM Modi’s face will be most prominent in election campaign posters and rallies. Besides, Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar, 20-20 Party chief Sabu M Jacob and Bharatiya Jan Dharma Sena leader T Vellapalli Natesan will also be seen prominently.
These three faces will give the message of unity and strength of NDA. According to sources, Sabu Jacob and Vellappally will not contest the elections themselves. They will campaign vigorously for the NDA candidates and help in gathering votes.
seat sharing plan
Apart from BJP, the main allies in NDA are 20-20 Party and Bharatiya Jan Dharam Sena. Some small groups are also involved. Discussion is going on on seat sharing. It is estimated that BJP itself will contest elections on about 100 seats.
20-20 parties will contest on 10 to 15 seats and Bharatiya Jan Dharam Sena on 25 to 30 seats. Last time Bharatiya Jan Dharam Sena had fielded candidates on 21 seats. This time NDA’s aim is to win maximum seats and create a strong presence in the state.
Got enthusiasm from local elections
BJP and NDA have got a lot of encouragement from the recent local body elections. In Thiruvananthapuram, the party won the mayor’s post for the first time. With this the party feels that it can become the third major force in the state.
NDA believes that if the assembly remains hung, it can play a decisive role. Development, employment, infrastructure and central schemes will be made the main issues.
NDA’s election strategy
NDA’s strategy is clear – trust Modi’s popularity and development agenda. The party says that people in Kerala now want change. NDA did not get much success in the last elections, but this time it has given full strength.
Fighting on all 140 seats shows the seriousness and confidence of NDA. Now it remains to be seen how successful this strategy is and how much change it brings in the politics of Kerala.
