Big initiative of government to promote industry
The Progressive Punjab Investor Summit 2026, held in Mohali, Punjab, got off to a strong start. On the very first day of this three-day long conference, the state received investment proposals of more than Rs 10,000 crore. Many big representatives of the industry participated in the conference and announced to expand their business in Punjab.
Assurance of providing every facility to the industry
Addressing the conference, Arvind Kejriwal said that the Punjab government is committed to providing all kinds of facilities to the industries. He said that if the country has to be globally competitive and compete with economies like China, then it is very important to strengthen the industries.
He said that in the last 75 years, the system of the country was such that people did not get adequate opportunity to show their potential. Now there is a need to allow industries to function openly.
Investment of Rs 1.5 lakh crore came in four years
Kejriwal said that due to better business environment, investment worth about Rs 1.5 lakh crore has come to Punjab in the last four years. These investment projects are likely to create about 5.5 lakh employment opportunities in the state. He said that understanding the needs of the industries, the government has implemented many reforms so that the businessmen can get relief from unnecessary government procedures.
Guaranteed approval in 45 days
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government has implemented the single window clearance system for industries. Under this, a guarantee has been given to give approval within 45 days for setting up or expanding a new industry.
The government has also launched “Fast Track Punjab Portal”, through which industrialists can apply online and they do not have to visit different departments.
Big industrial groups announced expansion
During the conference, many major companies announced plans to expand their business in Punjab. These include companies like Tata Steel, JSW Group, Trident Group, Hero MotoCorp and HMEL.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the Punjab government wants to make the youth not job seekers but job providers through industry-friendly policies.
Emphasis on education and health also
Arvind Kejriwal said that along with the development of industries, it is also necessary to strengthen human resources. For this purpose, large scale investment has been made in the education and health sector in Punjab. He said that in the last few years, the state has made significant progress in the education sector and students of government schools are now performing better in national level examinations.
Aim to make Punjab an industrial hub
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that this conference is not just a program to attract investment but is also an initiative to give a new direction to the economy of Punjab. He appealed to the investors to invest in Punjab and partner with the government in making the state a strong industrial and economic hub.
