Big accident in Bangladesh: Bus returning from wedding collides with Navy bus, 14 including bride and groom died tragically, wave of mourning in the family

Dhaka. At least 14 people died in a horrific road accident on Bangladesh’s Mongla-Khulna Highway at around 4 pm on Thursday. The accident occurred when a Bangladesh Navy bus and a passenger minibus returning from a wedding ceremony collided head-on. The dead include the bride and groom and several members of the same family.

Scene of the accident-
The family traveling in the mini bus was on return from Naksha village of Koyra upazila for a wedding ceremony. As soon as the Navy bus came from the opposite direction, there was an outcry as the mini bus collided and the mini bus was badly damaged.

Identification of the dead-
The deceased included Bangladesh Nationalist Party president Abdur Razzaq, his son and groom Sabbir from ward number eight of Mongla upazila, bride Marzia Akhtar Mitu, Mitu’s grandmother Anwara Begum, Razzaq’s wife Anjumara Begum, their daughters Lamia and Aishi, Aishi’s husband Samiul, daughter-in-law Putul, Putul’s son Alif, mini bus driver Naeem, Ibrahim Sani and an unidentified person.

Treatment of the injured continues in the hospital-
According to Dr. Mahnaz Mosharraf of Khulna Medical College Hospital, many family members including many women and children have been seriously injured in the accident. Dr. Rajesh of Rupsa Upazila Health Center said that four bodies have been kept in the hospital.

Mourning in the family, mourning in the area-
According to family members, Abdur Razzaq was returning home with relatives after the marriage of his younger son Sabbir. This tragic accident has created an atmosphere of mourning in the entire area and the local people are demanding an impartial investigation from the administration.
