Hormuz Strait crossing: Big relief for India, 40,000 tonnes of LPG secured
New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, good news has come for India. After positive talks with Iran, tanker Shivalik safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz carrying 40,000 metric tons of LPG. This tanker will reach India in the next few days. Not only this, another tanker filled with LPG will also leave for India and permission has been received for it. That means two tankers will soon be bringing LPG to India.
Positive talks between Iran and India
Iran’s ambassador had already said that good news would be received soon. Iran’s Ambassador to India Dr. Mohammad Fatahli also confirmed that there was a good conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Dr. Fatahli said that many important issues were discussed between high officials of India and Iran. There are still differences on some issues, but it is expected that these will be resolved soon and Indian ships will be able to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz.
PM Modi and S. Jaishankar’s activism
Earlier on Thursday, PM Modi spoke to the President of Iran on phone. India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also spoke to Iran’s Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Argchi for the fourth time. In the conversation, security of Indian tankers, America’s situation on Iran and BRICS matters were discussed. PM Modi also stressed on the security of Indians living in Iran and said that instead of war, issues should be resolved only through dialogue and diplomacy.
