Zimbabwean pacer shows thumbs up to Pakistan for IPL, joins KKR

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season is scheduled to start from March 28. Before this, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has made a big announcement. KKR has included Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani in its team as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman. Blessing Muzarabani has given thumbs up to Pakistan for playing in IPL. Actually, Muzarabani was signed by Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United but as soon as he was offered IPL, he withdrew his name from PSL.

Since last year, PSL and IPL are being played in the same window. This time PSL will start on 26th March i.e. two days before IPL. Muzarabani could play at only one place. In such a situation, he left PSL and joined IPL. KKR has told that Muzarabani will reach Kolkata on March 17.

KKR had released Mustafizur

In the IPL 2026 auction, KKR had bought Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman for Rs 9.2 crore but had to release him on the request of BCCI. After the killing of Hindus in Bangladesh and the continuous atrocities against them, an uproar started across the country that Mustafizur will not be allowed to play in IPL. After this BCCI gave instructions to KKR. KKR had released Mustafizur immediately but has now announced his replacement.

Muzarabani was recently seen in tremendous form in the T20 World Cup 2026. He gave Zimbabwe a memorable victory by taking 4 wickets against Australia. After this, this right-arm fast bowler also took 2 wickets against Sri Lanka and made the team victorious once again. He took 13 wickets in 6 matches in the T20 World Cup. Muzarabani has played 80 T20 International matches for Zimbabwe, in which he has taken 90 wickets.
