Strict action will be taken against discounting, profiteering and illegal storage of gas cylinders: District Magistrate

Today, under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar, a joint meeting of about 40 gas agency operators of the district, district sales officers, all the officers of the Food and Logistics Department and supply inspectors was organized in the Collectorate Auditorium.

Giving clear instructions in the meeting, the District Magistrate said that under no circumstances should there be any complaint of discounting, profiteering or illegal storage/collection of domestic gas cylinders. If it is found so, then strict legal action will be taken against the concerned under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

During the meeting, the District Magistrate informed that keeping in view the current global circumstances, continuous supply of domestic gas cylinders is being made through 42 gas agencies operating in the district to ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel to the consumers of the district. He said that like in the past months, gas cylinders are being made available through home delivery within the stipulated time period as per the booking of consumers and there is no problem regarding fuel supply in the district.

Appealing to all the consumers, the District Magistrate said that no person should collect (hoarding) gas cylinders unnecessarily nor submit demands on any gas agency against the rules. He said that necessary instructions have also been given to the police force to ensure that the above instructions are followed.

He also said that consumers should only believe in the official information issued by the Uttar Pradesh government and district administration and should not pay attention to any kind of rumors related to fuel supply. The district administration is completely sensitive and committed to ensuring timely fuel supply to all consumers. Therefore, the general public should not be influenced by any kind of rumor and should not store gas cylinders unnecessarily.

Additional Superintendent of Police Shubham Aggarwal, Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Kunwar Virendra Maurya, District Supply Officer, concerned supply inspector, operators of various gas agencies and regional managers of HP, Bharat and Indane Gas companies and other officials were present in the meeting.
