Doja Cat defends Chappell Roan’s ‘attitude’ with paparazzi

Doja Cat has publicly backed Chappell Roan following the singer’s tense encounter with paparazzi and autograph hunters in Paris earlier this week.

She praised the pop star for openly expressing discomfort in front of cameras.

In a nearly seven-minute TikTok video, Doja Cat reflected on the criticism Roan has faced for her reactions to photographers, saying she admires the singer’s willingness to be honest about how those moments feel.

During the clip, Doja Cat also opened up about her own mental health, revealing that she has long struggled with Borderline Personality Disorder and has spent years in therapy.

She clarified that she was not suggesting Roan shares the same diagnosis, but said the situation resonated with her personally.

“I fucking love that she does it,” Doja Cat said while discussing Roan’s reaction to paparazzi attention. “I love that she can be uncomfortable, comfortably, in front of people and protect herself and be honest.”

The rapper added that growing up, she often felt pressure to pretend she was comfortable in situations she did not enjoy, something she said took years to unlearn.

“I had to learn how to be honest with myself. I lied to myself for years, for most of my life,” she said.

Doja Cat also praised Roan for maintaining her boundaries without harming anyone, adding that seeing the singer stand her ground has encouraged her to adopt a similar approach toward paparazzi encounters.
