BCCI bans video analyst for life for spot fixing in Ranji Trophy Ban!
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken strict action against a man for spot-fixing in the 2024 Ranji Trophy season and banned him for life. The man is video analyst Raja Reddy, who has confessed to the crime. Reddy was involved in spot-fixing during the quarterfinal match between Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in the 2024 season. Reddy pleaded guilty and was convicted of violating Sections 2.1.3 and 2.1.4 of the Anti-Corruption Act.
Andhra Pradesh faced Madhya Pradesh in February 2024. This quarter final was played in Indore. Reddy was appointed by the BCCI as an analyst for this match. They also had access to the third umpire and match referee’s room. According to the complaint filed by the Andhra team manager, Reddy offered his teammate Girinath Reddy five lakh rupees in exchange for sharing in the team’s playing eleven.

He said, “WhatsApp call and chat history shows that a person repeatedly contacted Girinath Reddy, but the player refused to listen to him. Girinath had clearly said that he would report the matter to his team manager.
An investigation by the BCCI found that Reddy had a betting application installed on his phone, which was deemed inappropriate given his association with the board. Several email addresses linked to Reddy’s phone were also found.
