BAN vs PAK: ‘That’s why I threw at the stumps,’ Mehdi Hasan reacts after running out Salman Agha

Mehidy Hasan Miraz on Salman Agha: The second match of the ODI series was played between Bangladesh and Pakistan at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Friday. Pakistan won this match and leveled the series 1-1. This match is more in discussion about the method of run-out of Salman Ali Aga than the result. The way Agha was dismissed is being considered against the spirit of the game. Now Mehdi Hasan Miraj has given his reaction regarding this run out.

The incident occurred on the fourth ball of the 39th over of Pakistan’s innings. Mehdi Hasan Miraj’s ball was played by Mohammad Rizwan in the direction of the bowler. While trying to catch the ball, Miraj fought with Salman Ali Aga standing outside the non-strike crease. The ball had stopped, so Agha gave up his intention of taking a single and started picking up the ball himself and giving it to Miraj. Meanwhile, Miraj took the ball and hit it on the wicket. Agha was outside the crease and after an appeal he was declared run out by the third umpire. The decision is being considered against the spirit of the game.

What did the Bangladesh captain say?

Mehdi Hasan Miraj is also the captain of Bangladesh. On this incident after the match, he said, ‘My intention was only to stop the ball and save possible runs. He was out of the crease and I was just going towards the ball. If I had missed the ball, he could have easily taken the runs, so I decided to throw at the stumps.”
