‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ teaser shows Diljit Dosanjh’s partition-era love story
A teaser for Main Vaapas Aaunga was released by the makers on Friday. The film featured Indian actors including Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari Wagh and Vedang Raina. The project was directed by Imtiaz Ali.
The short teaser introduced a story connected to memories from the time of the partition of India. The clip showed an elderly man lying in bed while his grandson tried to carry out a wish linked to the past.
These moments showed the grandfather as a young man, portrayed by Vedang Raina. His character was shown sharing a close bond with a young woman played by Sharvari. Their story appeared to be interrupted by events during the period of partition.
One scene showed the young man standing on a bullock cart at night while calling out that he would return. The moment suggested a promise connected to the story’s central relationship.
The film also brought together a musical team that had previously worked with the director. The soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman with lyrics written by Irshad Kamil.
Speaking about the film, Imtiaz Ali said the story drew inspiration from personal memories connected to migration during the time of partition. He said, “Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? The biggest story of the century is migration.”
He also described how memories from the past could remain part of people’s lives for many years. “The past is always present. And decades later, what remains is the early feeling of love that was too personal to share,” he said.
The film was produced by Applause Entertainment and Window Seat Films. According to the announcement, the movie was scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 12.
