Hansi Haryana is famous not only for agriculture and sports but also for its rich historical heritage. There are many ancient forts in the state, whose history is centuries old. One of these is Asigarh Fort situated in Hansi district, which was called ‘Threshold of Hindustan’ in ancient times. This fort is also known as Badsi Gate.

It is said that this fort was related to the great ruler Prithviraj Chauhan. In the 12th century, he strengthened this fort and made it more powerful from the military point of view. At that time Hansi area was also famous for sword making and warfare.

According to historians, this fort was very important from strategic point of view. During that period, whichever ruler captured this fort, it was considered easy for him to rule over Delhi and entire India. For this reason it was called the gateway or ‘threshold’ of India. Many things found during excavation

In the year 2004, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) conducted a deep excavation here to know the history of the fort and this excavation continued for a long time. In this, coins, bricks, sculptures, pottery and remains of old houses of Buddha, Kushan, Gupta, Yaudhedhya, Rajput, Sultanate, Mughal and British eras were revealed. These discoveries proved that Hansi city has been a center of rich history and civilization for centuries.

Even before this, many important things have come to light during the excavation in the fort. Even in the year 1982, during excavation here, some ancient sculptures related to Jainism were found. These discoveries made it easier for historians to understand that this region has been under the influence of different cultures and religions for a long time.
