Mp news: Ruckus over Iftar party in RD Memorial College, Bhopal, siege by Hindu organizations
Mp news: Controversy arose over the Iftar party organized on March 11 at RD Memorial College located in Neelbad area of Bhopal. In a video that went viral on social media, some Hindu girl students were also seen attending Iftar along with Muslim students and staff. After the video surfaced, workers of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal reached the college and demonstrated strongly outside the gate. During the protest, the workers also recited Hanuman Chalisa and alleged Islamization in the college campus. In view of the situation, heavy police force had to be deployed in the area.
Opposition from Hindu organizations and demand for purification
The protesting Hindu organizations allege that religious one-sidedness is being increased in educational institutions. The activists carried out purification by sprinkling Ganga water outside the college campus and warned that any kind of “Islamic Jihad” or unilateral religious activity will not be tolerated. He also demanded the college administration to take a clear stand and not promote any one religion.
College administration and girl students denied the allegations
The college administration completely rejected these allegations. The staff says that festivals of all religions are celebrated in the institute. According to him, recently Holi was also celebrated in the college. Some Hindu girl students of the college also said that no one had forced them to attend the Iftar, rather the Muslim students had invited them and they had attended the program of their own free will.
Students told – let’s celebrate festivals together
The students say that during Holi, Muslim students also played with them and everyone celebrates the festival together in the college. VHP convenor Jitendra Chauhan said that efforts are being made to Islamise the college and it is necessary to stop it. The police have appealed to both sides to maintain peace. At present the situation is said to be under control, but as a precaution, security forces have been deployed at the college gate.
