Is Dhoni’s IPL journey going to end? Irfan Pathan gave a big hint

Every season of IPL is special for the fans of MS Dhoni. After retiring from international cricket, Dhoni is seen playing only in the Indian Premier League in a year. Now about two weeks are left for the start of IPL 2026 and the fans are excited to see him on the field once again. Like every season, this time too the question in the minds of fans is whether this will be Dhoni’s last IPL. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has given a big statement regarding Dhoni’s future.

Will IPL 2026 be Dhoni’s last season?

Speaking on a show on JioHotstar, Irfan Pathan said that it is possible that the 2026 season could be Dhoni’s last IPL as a player. He said, “Chennai Super Kings team is incomplete without MS Dhoni. Perhaps we will see him in the yellow jersey for the last time. It is very difficult to think about CSK and IPL without him. As the IPL comes closer, Dhoni is seen playing again. This time he looks fully prepared and fit.”

Focus will be on preparing new leaders

Irfan Pathan believes that this season Dhoni can play an important role in creating new leaders in the team. He said that whether Dhoni plays every match or not, his presence in the dressing room will be very important for the team. According to Pathan, Sanju Samson can also benefit from this, because he can also be a part of the leadership group.

Leadership group will be formed with Gaikwad

He further said that Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the captain of the team, but keeping the future in mind, the team management will prepare two-three players for leadership. Dhoni will play an important role in this process. Pathan also said that there will definitely be questions regarding Dhoni’s fitness and batting order, but CSK management will take decisions gradually. The team would also like that if this is their last season, then they should be given a grand farewell with the sixth IPL trophy.
