In the Constitution Conference held in Lucknow, Congress Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi shared important things about his party. He said that Congress is a party of the poor, although many leaders of the party are financially prosperous.

Rahul Gandhi clarified, “We do not want to become a rich party. If that happens, Congress will become like BJP.” Recalling the roots of the party, he said that its structure has been established since the time of Mahatma Gandhi, who has always been the identity of the poor and the deprived.

Shortcomings of Congress in the conference on Kanshi Ram’s birth anniversary

On the birth anniversary of Kanshi Ram, Rahul Gandhi also talked about the weaknesses of his party. He said that due to some failures of Congress, the Bahujan movement got stronger and Kanshi Ram achieved political success.

He added that if Congress had taken faster steps for social change, perhaps Kanshi Ram would not have got such a big recognition.

The need to struggle for change

Addressing the workers, Rahul Gandhi said that change in politics does not happen by willpower alone, for this struggle for ideas is necessary. He said that unless people accept injustice and stand against it, change in society is impossible.

Criticism of the Constitution and the current government

Speaking on the Constitution, he said that the Constitution of India contains the voice of ancient civilization and its soul is of social justice and equality. He accused the policies of the present government of denying this basic feeling.

Struggle between Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram

It is noteworthy that the alliance of Congress and Samajwadi Party has performed strongly in Uttar Pradesh in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, and is working on the same strategy for the 2027 assembly elections.
