Strong agitation by BJP in Vavisam Corporation on violation of royal etiquette, action against engineers!

The political atmosphere in the city became heated after the issue of absence of names of public representatives in the invitation letter for the inauguration of the new building of Division Committee ‘A’ of Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation and the Bhoomi Pujan program of the Trauma Center located at Chandansar came to light. Bharatiya Janata Party expressed strong protest regarding this issue and protested at the Municipal Corporation headquarters.

The names of Palghar Lok Sabha constituency MP Dr. Hemant Savra and Vasai MLA Sneha Dubey-Pandit were completely removed from the invitation letter. At the same time, the name of Nalasopara assembly constituency MLA Rajan Naik was also published after the former office-bearers without following the royal etiquette. Considering this as a serious protocol violation, BJP took a tough stand.
Under the leadership of opposition leader Manoj Patil, party leader Ashok Shelke and district president, 43 BJP corporators, officials and workers staged a protest at the Municipal Corporation headquarters. The protesters said that this is a blatant violation of the government circular issued on November 20, 2025 by the General Administration Department of the Maharashtra government.
After receiving information about the movement municipal corporation Commissioner Manoj Kumar Suryavanshi was not present in the office. Angered by this, the workers directly surrounded the commissioner’s cabin. Later, in view of the situation, the delegation met Mayor Ajiv Patil, Standing Committee Chairman Praveen Shetty and Additional Commissioner Sanjay Herwade and discussed the issue.
Opposition leader Manoj Patil, in a letter to the commissioner, said that organizing such programs when the budget session of the legislature is going on is against the rules of the government circular. He also demanded making the names of the guilty officers public and taking strict action within seven days.
Ultimately, under the pressure of the movement, the municipal administration had to take action. Additional Commissioner Sanjay Herwade, while giving a written clarification, said that the invitation letter concerned was not officially published by the corporation. However, the administration took strict action for not following royal etiquette and issuing invitations without prior permission of the Commissioner.
In this case, disciplinary notice has been issued to City Engineer Pradeep Pachange and Sub-Engineer Satish Suryavanshi under Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1979. This action has created a stir in the administrative circles of the Municipal Corporation and the demand for setting up a “Rajasthan Compliance Cell” has also intensified to prevent such incidents in future.
