Assam Elections: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various development works in Silchar, Assam. During this, he said, some time ago, the foundation stone of projects worth thousands of crores of rupees related to the connectivity of Barak Valley and connectivity of North-East has been laid and inaugurated here. Be it road, rail, agriculture college… with all such projects, Barak Valley is going to become a big logistics and trade hub of North-East. This is going to create countless employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth here. I congratulate all of you very much for all these development projects.

He said, for many decades after independence, Congress governments kept the North-East away from both Delhi and the heart. Congress had, in a way, forgotten the North-East. But BJP’s double engine government has connected the North-East in such a way that today it is discussed everywhere. Today North-East is the center of India’s Act East Policy. A bridge is being built connecting India with South East Asia.
The PM said, just as Congress had left North-East to fend for itself, similarly Congress has played a big role in making Barak Valley too miserable. When the country became independent, Congress allowed such a boundary to be drawn, due to which the Barak Valley was cut off from the sea. The farmers of Barak Valley and the workers working in the tea gardens here have a huge contribution in the development of Assam. Double Engine The government is continuously taking steps for the welfare of farmers.
Also said, today the Bhoomi Pujan of Shillong-Silchar High Speed Corridor worth about Rs 24 thousand crore has been done. Where the lock in the minds of Congress people closes, our work begins there. This will be the first access control high speed corridor of North-East. This is not just a highway project, this is the end of the decades-long wait of the people of North-East. BJP’s mantra is to give priority to those who were left behind in the race of development. Congress governments considered the border areas as the last villages of the country. We consider border villages as the first villages of the country. Therefore, for the development of the border area… the next phase of Vibrant Village Program was started from Cachar district itself. Due to this, many villages of Barak Valley are also certain to improve.
