MEA On Recent Developments In West Asia: India’s priority to ensure uninterrupted transportation of energy and other needs, MEA statement on recent developments in West Asia
New Delhi. On recent developments in West Asia, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, since the beginning of this conflict, India has consistently called for de-escalation and resolution of all issues through dialogue. Also, India has emphasized that one of its key priorities is to ensure uninterrupted transportation of goods and energy needs. We have also urged that civilian infrastructure, including energy facilities, not be targeted across the region. We believe these are the priorities of a large part of the global community.
Jaiswal said, as you know, we are facing a very complex situation in an active conflict zone. Nevertheless, we have maintained close contacts at various political and diplomatic levels with all key interlocutors, including Gulf Cooperation Council members, Iran, the US and Israel, to communicate and outline our priorities, particularly with regard to energy security. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also spoken to his counterparts in the region. Over the last few days, the External Affairs Minister and our Embassy have also been in constant touch with their interlocutors. In the process, concerns of other key stakeholders like shipping companies etc. were also addressed.
