Kolkata Political Violence: Violent clash between TMC-BJP supporters in Kolkata before PM Modi’s Brigade rally.
News India Live, Digital Desk: The situation remains tense in many areas of Kolkata before this rally organized at the conclusion of BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’ in view of the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. According to reports, there have been incidents of scuffle and stone pelting between BJP workers and TMC supporters who were going to attend the rally. Highlights of the incident Main centers of clash: Workers from both the sides came face to face in the south and central parts of Kolkata, especially on the roads leading to the Brigade Parade Ground. BJP alleges that buses were stopped and attacks were carried out to prevent their workers from coming to the rally. Tight security arrangements: In view of the violence, Kolkata Police and Central Security Forces have taken up the situation. There is a Section 144-like situation around the Brigade Ground and surveillance is being done with drones. BJP’s ‘Parivartan’ pledge: This rally of the Prime Minister is the culmination of BJP’s two-week long ‘Parivartan Yatra’, which has covered 250 assembly seats in the state. The stage of the rally has been built on the lines of the famous ‘Kalighat Temple’. Gift of government projects: Apart from the political rally, PM Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth ₹ 18,680 crore, which includes big projects related to National Highways and Railways (Purulia-Anand Vihar Express). New election slogan: Through this rally, BJP will launch its new slogan “Paltano Darkar, Chai BJP Sarkar” (Change is needed, BJP government is needed). BJP: Subhendu Adhikari and Sukant Majumdar alleged that the Mamata government is scared and is using the government machinery to flop the BJP rally. TMC: Trinamool Congress leaders hit back and said that the BJP is trying to disturb the peace of the city by bringing outsiders and the people of Bengal only see the Prime Minister as a ‘guest’.
