From debut to World Cup… Suryakumar Yadav remembers his 5-year journey, video goes viral

Team India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav shared an emotional video on social media on Saturday, March 14, on the occasion of his completion of 5 years in international cricket. This star batsman from Mumbai was last seen playing in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, where India won the title by defeating New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs in the final under his captaincy in Ahmedabad.

Made T20 debut against England

Suryakumar Yadav made his T20 International debut in 2021 against the England national cricket team in Ahmedabad. In that match, ‘Men in Blue’ chased the target of 165 runs and won by 7 wickets, although they did not get a chance to bat in this match.

Special video shared on social media

On completion of 5 years in international cricket, the 35-year-old player posted a special video on Instagram. The video included memorable moments and many special clips from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 victories. In the caption of the video, he wrote, “5 years ago a dream turned into reality. Wearing the India jersey is a feeling I still can’t fully explain in words. Cheers to the more memories we are going to create for the team.”

This includes 25 half-centuries and 4 centuries. He has played 37 matches in ODI cricket. In 35 innings, he has scored 773 runs at an average of 25.76 and strike rate of 105.02, which includes 4 half-centuries. Apart from this, he has also played a test match, in which he scored 8 runs in his only innings.
