Punjab Government’s health scheme initiative Mukhyamantri Swasthya Yojana has once again provided great relief to the needy families. Sukhwinder Kaur, a resident of Mohali district, suddenly had a serious heart problem. His treatment was done under the Chief Minister Health Scheme, due to which his family got relief from the possible expenditure of about Rs 4 lakh. Sukhwinder lives in Manikpur village of the district.
The doctor asked to insert a stent
According to the information, Sukhwinder was found to have severe chest pain and sugar-related problems, after which he was taken to a private hospital. During the examination, doctors discovered a serious heart problem. Doctors advised to immediately insert a stent. Doctors told the family that the cost of treatment and hospitalization could be around three to four lakhs. It was a bit difficult for the family to arrange a huge amount of Rs 3-4 lakh.

After this, he got his eligibility checked under the scheme, after proving eligible for the scheme, the treatment process was completed rapidly. He was treated in a cashless manner in the listed hospital. He was kept under the observation of doctors for a week. When Sukhwinder’s condition became stable, he was discharged from the hospital. The family expressed relief and said that it was because of this scheme that they could leave aside financial worries and focus on the patient’s health.
More than nine lakh health cards issued
The state government says that so far more than nine lakh health cards have been issued across Punjab. More than 70 percent people in government hospitals are getting free treatment under the scheme. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that the objective of the scheme is to ensure that no eligible family is deprived of necessary treatment due to financial constraints.
