Pace of development from Assam to Bengal, PM Modi will inaugurate projects worth more than Rs 42 thousand crores
Guwahati. In a bid to strengthen infrastructure in Northeast and Eastern India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch several major development projects in Assam and West Bengal on Saturday. On the second day of his two-day Assam tour, the Prime Minister will reach Silchar in Assam, where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects worth more than Rs 23,500 crore. After this he will go to Kolkata and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth about Rs 18,680 crore there. During this time the Prime Minister will also address public meetings in both the states.
Many important projects started in Silchar-
The Prime Minister will reach Silchar in the morning and launch many important projects related to roads, railways and education. These projects aim to improve regional connectivity, accelerate trade and expand amenities for the local people. After the program, the Prime Minister will address a big public meeting organized in Silchar and highlight the government’s plans for the development of the North-Eastern region.
The journey through Silchar-Guwahati Expressway will be halved.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of Silchar-Guwahati Expressway. This 166 km long expressway, to be built at a cost of about Rs 22,000 crore, will greatly improve the connectivity between Guwahati and Silchar. After its construction, the travel time between the two cities is expected to reduce from about eight hours to four to four and a half hours. This is likely to give new impetus to trade, tourism and transportation.
Also gift of flyover and agriculture colleges-
Apart from this, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of a flyover to be built in Silchar city at a cost of about Rs 563 crore, which is expected to reduce the problem of traffic jam in the city. The foundation stone of three agricultural colleges will also be laid in Patharkandi at a cost of about Rs 122 crore, which will promote agricultural education and research in the area.
Train services will become faster due to railway electrification-
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Silchar-Churaibari Railway Electrification Project. With the completion of this project worth about Rs 655 crore, rail services will become faster and energy-efficient, providing better and timely service to passengers.
Projects worth thousands of crores in Kolkata too-
After the program in Assam, the Prime Minister will reach Kolkata, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth about Rs 18,680 crore. These include national highway projects with a length of more than 420 kilometers, the cost of which is said to be around Rs 16,990 crore. These projects include development of several stretches of NH-19 and NH-114, which is expected to improve road safety and reduce traffic congestion.
Brigade will give political message from ground-
During the Kolkata visit, the Prime Minister will also address a big public meeting organized at the Brigade Parade Ground. This rally is being linked to the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections. This program is being organized as the culmination of BJP’s Parivartan Yatra and it is believed that from this platform the Prime Minister can give a big message on the issues of politics and development of the state.
