Clash between TMC-BJP supporters in Kolkata, tension in Girish Park area before PM Modi’s rally

It is being told that this clash took place some time before the rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP supporters were heading towards the rally venue raising slogans in support of PM Modi, when suddenly they were accused of throwing stones. BJP workers say that they were attacked without any provocation.

Speaking to local media, a BJP worker said that they were going to join the rally peacefully, but on the way some people started pelting stones at them and abusing them. According to eyewitnesses, this was followed by a heated argument between supporters of both the sides and the situation soon escalated into a clash. There was stone pelting and sloganeering from both sides.

BJP alleged that many vehicles were also damaged during this period. However, local All India Trinamool Congress workers denied these allegations. He says that BJP supporters first abused and started throwing stones. He also alleged that some people also threw stones at the houses of local TMC leaders.

Seeing the situation worsening, a large number of police reached the spot and tried to control the situation.

This incident happened about half an hour before PM Modi’s rally to be held at Brigade Parade Ground. This rally is BJP’s statewide campaign before the West Bengal Assembly elections. ‘Change Journey’ It is being considered a part of the concluding programme.
