Weather suddenly changed in Delhi-NCR, temperature dropped due to strong winds and rain; IMD’s yellow alert issued
New Delhi: The weather took a sudden turn in the capital Delhi and surrounding areas on Sunday morning. Strong winds, thunder and light to moderate rain surprised people. This rain, which has come amid the increasing heat for the last few days, has made the weather pleasant. Meteorologists believe that the temperature may drop by about 5 degrees Celsius, which will provide relief to people from the heat.
According to the Meteorological Department, the reason behind this change in the weather in Delhi is the effect of western disturbance. Due to this, the weather may keep changing throughout the day on Sunday. The department has said that during this period, there is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour and light rain may also occur at many places.
In view of the situation, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Sunday. The department estimates that today the maximum temperature in Delhi may be between 27 to 29 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.
Chances of rain in these areas of Delhi-NCR
The Meteorological Department has informed through the social media platform ‘X’ that the weather may remain bad in many parts of Delhi and NCR in the next few hours. There is a possibility of strong winds, lightning and light to moderate rain in areas like Loni Dehat, Hindon Air Force Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Noida, Gurugram and Manesar.
Apart from this, there may be rain with strong winds in many districts of Haryana including Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Bhiwani, Karnal, Hisar, Panipat, Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra. At the same time, change in weather can also be seen in areas like Bulandshahr, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Meerut, Baghpat and Bijnor of Uttar Pradesh. There is a possibility of strong winds and light rain in some parts of Rajasthan also.
What will be the temperature on Monday?
According to the data of Delhi’s Safdarjung Meteorological Center, the maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 33.2 degrees Celsius, which was about 4.3 degrees more than normal. The minimum temperature was 18.1 degrees Celsius, which was about 3 degrees more than normal. The Meteorological Department says that there may be some fluctuations in the weather till Monday. It is estimated that the minimum temperature will be between 14 to 16 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature can reach 31 to 33 degrees Celsius.
Chance of rain in hills and other states also
Apart from Delhi, the weather may change in many other states also. Orange alert has been issued in Kullu, Mandi and Shimla districts of Himachal Pradesh regarding thunderstorms and strong winds. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the rains will continue here till March 18.
There may be light to moderate rain in many districts of Jharkhand for the next four days. On the other hand, there is a possibility of dust storm and light drizzle at some places in Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ganganagar and Hanumangarh of Rajasthan.
