News India Live, Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to address a huge public meeting on 14 March 2026 at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. This rally marks the culmination of BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’. However, just before the rally, BJP workers have started a sit-in protest outside the venue, due to which the election atmosphere has become even more heated. Main reasons for protest: Mainly three big reasons are being given behind this sit-in protest by BJP workers: Administrative hurdles: BJP leaders allege that the state administration and Kolkata Police are trying to stop the buses and workers coming to the rally. Posters and banners Controversy: Activists claim that PM Modi’s ‘Brigade Chalo’ posters and cut-outs put up in the city are being torn or removed by TMC workers. SIR (Special Intensive Revision) Issue: BJP workers are also raising their voice against the action of ‘detection’ and ‘removing names from the voter list’, over which Mamata Banerjee had also staged a protest recently. BJP says that TMC is spreading a false narrative. Grand preparations for the Brigade Rally (Mega Preparations) This rally is being considered as the ‘conch sound’ of the 2026 assembly elections: Design of the stage: The main stage has been built on the lines of the famous Kalighat temple of Kolkata. Target of huge crowd: BJP leadership has claimed to gather 10 to 15 lakh people in this rally. For this, three big rallies will be taken out from Howrah, Sealdah and Central Kolkata. Security cordon: SPG has taken the entire ground under its control. Strict arrangements have been made for the security of this stage built right in front of the Victoria Memorial. Mamata Banerjee’s counterattack: In response to this show of strength by BJP, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also opened a front. He has attacked BJP over ‘rigging in voter list’ and ‘rising prices of LPG’. TMC says that BJP is only pretending by inviting outsiders.
