New Zealand’s batting failed in front of South Africa’s excellent bowling, lost by 7 wickets…

In the first match of the five-match T20I series, South Africa registered a big win by defeating New Zealand by 7 wickets on the basis of its excellent bowling. The match was played at the Bay Oval, where New Zealand was all out for 91 runs and South Africa achieved the target in 16.4 overs.

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner said after the match that despite winning the toss, his team faced a more favorable pitch than expected. He gave credit to South Africa’s bowling and said that it became difficult for the team to make a comeback after four wickets fell in the powerplay.

“South Africa bowled very well and put on pressure early on. Losing four wickets in the powerplay is always a challenge. We need to improve our batting and hopefully we will do better in the next match in Hamilton,” Santner said.

Talking about the match, New Zealand, batting first, was all out for 91 runs in 14.3 overs. James Neesham was the top scorer by scoring 26 runs, while captain Santner could score only 15 runs. 19 year old Nqobani Mokoena bowled brilliantly in his debut match for South Africa and took 3 wickets. Apart from this, Gerald Coetzee, Otniel Baartman, and captain Keshav Maharaj were part of the team’s excellent bowling with 2 wickets each.

South Africa achieved the target of 92 runs by losing 3 wickets in 16.4 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Connor Esterhuizen played an unbeaten inning of 45 runs and led the team to victory. Now South Africa will have to look for victory in four more matches.
